Our Lagos weekend guide includes Spotify’s African Heat Party and one of the best spots for fried chicken burger.

The Spotify African Heat Party storms Lagos on Saturday. Granted, it hasn’t had the best of publicity, the music streaming platform has been courting African artists via its popular playlist, African Heat, taking African songs to international domains. With the African Heat Party, it hopes to connect fans with their African music idols.

It has tapped Joeboy, whose sophomore album Body & Soul drops on Friday. Teni and Fave join rave-of-the-moment Odumodublvck as performers. On the turntable are Sarz, DJ Tohbad and Wanni x Handi. Elsewhere, classical music fans and opera heads can head to the Africlassical concert by Vesta Orchestra.

DJ Venum grabbed headlines in 2018 when he broke the Guinness World Record for the longest DJ Marathon. He had played for 15 days. Since then, he’s been getting club and party gigs. And this is why we are suggesting his Massive Attack party to kick off your weekend.
